What Drives Us

Calm Driving was born seven years ago and has gone from strength to strength. All our instructors are trained to the high D.S.A (driving standards agency) high standard and we are very proud of our achievements. At present there are 4 instructors so we are a relatively small set up. I was determined when I started Calm Driving that we would have quality not quantity and to be honest in this business it has to be that way if you are going to be successful. A successful driving school gets plenty of recommendations and we have plenty of those. Have a quick browse at our testimonial page and you will see what I mean.

The cars

I have a Hyundai Getz and it is my third one, I find my pupils like the car and the good vision round the vehicle. This helps when carrying out manoeuvres like the turn in the road.

Martin my colleague has a new shape Ford Fiesta which is very popular with all his pupils and smart looking too! Ian has a Ford Focus, it’s a diesel version and has a roomy feel to it, really comfortable to drive. Murray joined us six months ago and he is a fantastic enthusiastic and very calm addition to our company, he has a Mazda 2 and i know his pupils love it!

We are checked by the D.S.A every few years so that our teaching is up to date and we have all the required skills to get you through your test. At Calm Driving we also hold regular meetings to make sure our standard of tuition is effective and up to date. We also attend different courses to make sure that our continued professional development is implemented. I am doing a police driving course at the moment (Yes I have to take driving tests too!). We also have a wide knowledge of the theory and hazard tests and we can use in car aids to help you pass first time.

So …….what drives us ? Well you do! The feeling of teaching a pupil and watching the confidence grow is enough for Martin Ian and myself and when you get a pass at the end knowing you have taught someone in a safe confident manner you couldn’t ask for any thing else.
